Inside Line Promotions – FRANKLIN, Ind. (June 22, 2020) – The 2020 pulling season has been ravaged by COVID-19 closures.
The SawBlade.com sponsored ARP Light Weight Super Stock Tractor team owned by David and Janet Esteb has been patiently waiting for the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League to get underway. The time has finally arrived as the season opener for Eat’n Dollars/Alky Edition is this Friday and Saturday at the Old Rodeo Grounds in Mound City, Mo., for the Rumble by the Refuge.
“COVID-19 cancelations have been rampant,” Janet Esteb said. “We only have five hooks at three different venues compared to a normal year when we’d have approximately 20 hooks.”
The team put together a new engine during the winter and this weekend’s action presents the first test.
“Because we cannot practice at home, we just don’t have enough pulls to get it lined out,” Esteb said. “Usually we have some state hooks to test and tune before the season starts, but unfortunately we haven’t had a chance to do that. It will be very difficult with only a few pulls to get it tuned in, but we will try.”
While competing has been on the back burner, the Estebs’ have continued to stay busy.
“We farm and have been able to do more as far as maintenance on buildings, fencing, etc.; basically upkeep on things around the farm,” Janet Esteb said. “There is always stuff to do when you farm and raise livestock. David also has been doing a lot of custom mechanic work in the shop.”
